Octopath Traveler Job Shrines Locations (2024)

Get a job

In this guide, we're going to help you find all of the Job Shrines Locations in Octopath Traveler.

There are eight of these in total, and finding them allows your character to take on secondary jobs. This allows them to use skills previously only available to other party members.

For example, if you start with Olberic, you could take on Cleric as a secondary job to gain access to powerful healing skills. As you can tell, this is a very worthwhile undertaking.

It's also worth noting that there are four secret advanced jobs that don't have a character associated with them. We'll also detail the locations of those shrines too.

New to Octopath Traveler? Why not start by reading our Beginner's Guide.

Articles like these are part of the reason I never bother with strategy guides. Most of the fun is finding and exploring on your own.

With that said even though they're not for me I understand new comers to jrpgs might need these to make their experience more enjoyable.

@Kimyonaakuma yeah but you might not know what they do. I'm wandering around right now letting Theresa pick up all the money on the ground...which means I'm often in areas where I can be one shot right now. So I found one of those shrines...thought it was a boss fight area and left. So now I have to sneak back in. (I'm only playing four characters and grinding/ looking for money to get op weapons in between chapters)

Ah well, makes it fun.

@Ryu_Niiyama Yeah that's a good point actually, there's been a couple of places that I haven't entered because I assume that they are part of another character's chapter. Now that I have played the game more I have figured out that most if not all of them are optional...which means I have a lot more places to revisit...

At least the shrines are obvious after you discover your first one, just find a shrine with no danger level

Oooo advanced jobs look cool. I had no idea that secondary jobs were a thing until last night when I randomly stumbled across a cave and got the cleric one lol. Been on the hunt for the rest ever since, got 2 more today, and I'll find the rest myself (I'm a good boy and didn't look at the locations in the article lol).

@Deadstanley
Haha I thought the same thing my eyes struggled really bad to read that I had to zoom in quite a bit. I guess that's the drawbacks of getting old

@Kimyonaakuma I feel kinda bad ignoring the other party members that are standing in their respective cities waiting for me to talk to them but...I've discovered about half (I think) of the map due to just wandering around. The nice part about the game not having a "THE WORLD IS ABOUT TO END NOW...but the game will take 100 hours to beat" type story (although I think there is some tie together later on according to the internet) is that I can just travel and help people and not feel like I have to go to the next chapter.

@Ryu_Niiyama At least you have the option to recruit them at some point, I think the freedom is a good thing and helps make it less linear. And the stories are most personal and separate so you won't miss out.

I started with Tressa and worked my way around the world until I had each character, now I'm just doing the second chapter in order of what level is suggested (but I occasionally skip on to focus on a favourite character ). I haven't visited the outer areas of the map and but I've seen a good amount of the rest, aside from the desert region. I was worried that it would be really small but the starting areas seem to be small and then the rest get increasingly bigger.

I've been slightly spoiled thanks to a recommended YouTube video so I have a rough idea about what's happening in the background, but luckily not much! I can't have a game that I've waited a year and a half for ruined...

@Kimyonaakuma As for map size...lets just say im glad they have a fast travel option (yay modern jrpgs...). Tressa has restored my faith in merchants...I'm mean she just finds money. I was walking around and hit an area with a danger level of 45 and she found almost 10 grand. I looked at the team and was like "We are going through! There is gold in those hills! Everybody put on your running shoes!" (I was like level 11 at the time)

I've managed not to spoil myself personally. So I'm having a blast. This game manages to have all the things I love about the old JRPGs with enough modern housekeeping (autosaves, fast travel, area rating level) to keep it from being frustrating along with an enjoyable battle system that makes grinding fun (hence why I'm just playing 4 stories at a time...I don't mind grinding up to the recommended level for each story).

Plus there is the soundtrack...geez why is the music so good? I didn't expect to care about the graphics, I think the retro look is pretty but I'm not attached to the 90s JRPGS like that....but in motion its so vivid that I just wanna play for hours.

@Ryu_Niiyama I don't mind going around one region but if it's any further I will just use fast travel. It's also just really useful for quick escapes I've never seen Tressa find more than 5,000 leaves (I think that's the currency?), but I have entered any areas higher than level 35.

I wasn't majorly spoiled but I can kind of piece together some ideas based on what some characters talk about...but I will not let myself think too much about it and I won't leave any possible spoilers for you!
I haven't personally played many old JRPGs despite it being one of my favourite genres so a lot of this feels new to me, especially as I have never played any Final Fantasy games. The whole "job" thing is quite new too as I've only seen it in Bravely Default but I like how much you can customize everything. I don't find the game too bad for grinding, I usually have 3, sometimes 2 permanent members and then the last spot is for whoever's chapter it is or is going to be. I find that the low level characters catch up quickly though, and they can still use powerful weapons to stay relevant.
The soundtrack is surprisingly good! The first demo only had a few decent songs but the full game is just amazing. The song that plays on the snow routes might be one of my favourites, I stop quite often and take it all in along with the pretty snow.

I'm looking forward to going back to it now for a couple of hours now that I've finished some things I've needed to do, but there's also that Taiko no Tatsujin demo...hmmm choices.

@Kimyonaakuma Wait wait wait. There is a Taiko no Tatsujin Demo? and I missed it?!

Ah well the game should unlock tomorrow.

@Ryu_Niiyama Yeah there's a demo on the JP eShop with two songs!

...but isn't the game out already? Or I'm I misunderstanding this?

@Kimyonaakuma I did the preload...bought it like two weeks ago...but it was still locked last night...that could be different today given the timezone difference. I'm still at work. lol.

@Kimyonaakuma Oddly enough, I got through every character's Chapter 2 without finding a single Shrine. I thought most of the caves and other areas on the map would simply factor into other characters' later chapters, so I mostly skipped over them, figuring there was no point to exploring something where I would get to the end of the area and need to leave since I wasn't running a specific character's mission. Didn't seem much point in exploring areas I would later return to.

Whoops.

@Ryu_Niiyama I just checked the eShop and it seems to be out now, at least you have that to look forward to!

I'd really like to buy it but I should focus on Octopath Traveller, I can't have another RPG buried under other games. Maybe I'll get it when the English version comes out which seems to be pretty much confirmed.

@PerishSong I didn't know that they existed until I stumbled across the Healer shrine but strangely enough I found them really easily after that without going too far out of my way. I assumed that each cave was part of a character's story but now I don't think they are. The story-related areas seem to be blocked off with wooden signs most of the time.
I still have to find the Scholar and Dancer shrines but I don't want to unlock them all at once...and I can't decide who should have what job! I've only given two characters secondary jobs...

I almost got through everyone’s chapter twos before finding the Warrior one on the way to The hunter’s ch 2 and I was like ... Ophelia gets a sword! I knew secondary jobs were a thing but I assumed it was like after everyone’s chapter 2 is done they all unlock or something.

So then I went and found them all (I googled which part to find them in but generally did my best to avoid actually watching any videos that show the exact locations.

My favourite part of the secondary jobs was getting to see Cyrus in what looks like a leather harness as a dancer!

Sometimes a question arises, and it’s not easier for such to find a cool gardener who can come up with these ideas. I recently showed my friend the https://craftresumes.com/write-my-resume/ site for a device to work through which he was able to find what he needed for himself. Try to find you there too.
