Have a party member always stand by the Lava Valve, allowing you to flood the area with lava to maintain the debuff. Even with Superheated, Grym is either immune or resistant to all damage types, with a single vulnerability to Bludgeoning damage. This leaves it vulnerable to blunt weapons but also to the Forge Hammer.

The best items to craft in Adamantine Forge are armours. Both medium Adamantine Scale Mail and heavy Adamantine Splint Armour offer exceptional protection, dominant compared to other Baldur's Gate 3 Act 1 gear. Another great option is Adamantine Shield.

Crafting items with the forge requires mining Mithral Ore, hidden above lava, and defeating the boss Grym. The Adamantine Longsword is considered the best weapon from the forge, while the Adamantine Splint Armor provides the highest defense.

We recommend using the Scale Mail, Splint, or Shield mould, as the weapons aren't really that good when compared to those you can easily get during Act 2 - but it's entirely up to you!

Grym is immune to most types of damage, and is resistant to cold, lightning, and force elements. However, you can only deal damage when it's standing in lava. Grym will target and move to the last character that dealt damage to it. Ideally, this has to be a character standing on top of the mold box.

Because there's only two Mithral Ores to get, this means you can only use the Adamantine Forge twice in the whole game, despite the fact there's six various Moulds and potential creations. This means there's a hard choice to be made - pick carefully!

Adamantine Splint Armor

The Adamantine Splint is one of the best heavy armor pieces you can find in Baldur's Gate 3, and what makes it even better is that you can craft it early in Act 2. Combine it with the shield or one of the other weapons for a powerful melee build.

In order to activate it, you need to insert a mould, then add the Mithral ore to the crucible in the center, and finally use the forge lever that activates the massive hammer. This will lower the forge, where you can then activate the valve by the large grate to fill the forge with lava.

Make sure that Grym is Superheated by activating the lava valve. If it is not Superheated, damage it with a character or use Minor Illusion on a lower surface to lure it to an area where it will be affected by the lava before using the lava valve.
