How do you adjust a callaway Mavrik driver? ›

When fully open the head can be easily removed from the shaft allowing the two cogs to turn independently. These cogs will indicate the setting available to you. Callaway's Opti-Fit hosel allows you to add up to 2-degrees of loft or go 1-degree lower.

Changing the loft of a golf club also changes the face angle. Adding loft to a golf club closes the clubface and taking loft opens the clubface. Considering most people miss right with a driver, taking loft off a driver can be a dangerous game as it will make the clubface point more to the right.

This setting can improve draw, induce gear effect and make it easier to close the club face. The hosel settings you want to utilize will be to increase the loft and or increase the lie angle to make the club more upright.

Then for each, you can choose an 'N' for neutral and a 'D' for draw setting. Note the 'S' on the hosel stands for standard or stated loft.

Slicing or fading the ball too often: This is where you can start to move it more towards a “draw” setting, which will correct that left-to-right flight path. Some drivers have two different draw settings—one in the shaft and one in a weight on the bottom of the club.

For example, if you tend to slice the ball or want to hit a draw, a more upright angle may help you square or close the clubhead through impact. Conversely, if you tend to hook the ball, a flatter lie angle could help straighten things out.

Woody says that getting the loft setting on your driver is the most important. Modern drivers allow golfers to move the loft around by several degrees now. Increasing or decreasing loft can change how far you hit the ball and the accuracy of your drives considerably.

If you have a mid swing speed of 95-104 mph, a driver loft of between 10-11.5° will normally be a good starting point. If you hit down on the ball, you're likely to have high spin loft, so using less loft will actually reduce your backspin and should help you hit the ball further.

How to adjust Mavrik driver for slice? ›

Switching the weights around, so the heavier weight in the heel position sets the driver up to have a significant draw bias. If you suffer from a slice, this setting will reduce or correct it as the heavier weight wants to shut down the face through impact.
